The problem
The creators of This Student Needs had quickly put together a website to guide disabled students through the process of applying for support at university.
They wanted to understand how well this website was working, and how it could be improved to better serve their users.

User interviews
With This Student Needs' support, I recruited 8 of their users for 45 minute interviews to understand;
-
How users discovered the guide in the first place
-
What value (if any) they were getting from the guide
Through these interviews, I learned that users found the website;
-
Text-heavy and information-dense
-
Difficult to navigate
-
Visually a bit boring

Redesign and build
Using the existing information on the website, I redesigned with the goals of;
-
Making the navigation much clearer
-
Making the information easier to consumer
-
Adding more visual interest to each page
After sharing the designs for review, I then built these new designs in Squarespace.

Outcomes
The team at This Student Needs were delighted with the speed of the project, having the chance to engage with their users, and the redesigned website.
They shared that they have seen a significant increase in sign-ups, as well as returning users since the changes went live.
